On Episode 401 of The Tennis Files Podcast, I spoke with tennis strings expert and coach Richard Groenewold about how to choose the best strings for your game.

Richard is Signum Pro’s USA LLC National Sales Manager and the CEO of Genesis tennis strings. He began playing tennis when he was 12 and started in the tennis business at the age of 15, selling tennis strings and racquets locally. He is a former ITF top-150 ranked singles player. He played tennis for 3 years at Open tournaments and Pro tournaments until retiring from tennis to dedicate many years to Photography. Richard opened a little pro shop in Mexico in 2008, and then afterwards became the distributor for Genesis, Signum Pro, Medspec, Topspin, Polyfibre and Polystar in México. By 2016, he took over the distribution for Signum Pro in the US, and in 2017 purchased Genesis from the founders of the brand.

On the show, you’ll learn about the different types of tennis strings and their characteristics, how to choose the thickness and tension of your strings, the biggest mistakes tennis players make when choosing strings, the most popular strings from Signum Pro and Genesis, and much more!
